Brenchley and Matfield Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA)

Who we are
We are a registered charity set up specifically to raise funds to enhance the education of all children at Brenchley and Matfield Primary School. We run a wide range of events that enable us to raise funds, but we also run events to continually build on our school community spirit. We are committed to ensuring that children and families have a say in both which events we run and how our funds are spent.

What we do
In our last survey, families told us they wanted funds spent on fun and educational activities for the children. In response, we organise and fund termly class events during the school day. Examples to date include the following:
• Forest school activities for all children
• Reptile encounter for each class
• Visit from Story Bus/interactive storytelling
• Visit from Eagle Heights for all classes

Other popular events in the school calendar that we organise are:
• Family Camp-out Weekend
• Apple Harvest Celebration (as we are surrounded by beautiful orchards!)
• School Discos
• Film Nights
• Egg Hunts
• Summer Fair
• Quiz Nights
• Gift Fair
And much much more!

We have funded a range of school projects and resources over the past few years, including a new ICT Suite, Children’s School Council budget, part-funding the school’s Empiribox Science Scheme, regeneration of the pond, wildlife area and sensory garden, resources for the ‘Children’s University’ scheme, Christmas presents for all children, library resources (books, audio headsets, specialist dyslexia-friendly books), playground equipment, sports equipment and interactive whiteboards.

How we do it
Through determination to ensure that all children have the very best experience at school and develop a love for education and their school community! We meet once a month to plan events, catch up and respond to any feedback received. Everyone is welcome and we always love new faces and extra hands! It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet others across the school and everyone is free to give as much or little time as they are able.
