The School Day

The School Day

Our school day is timed as follows:

  • 8.40am – Main doors open
  • 8.55am to 3.15pm – School day for Reception children (Reception)
  • 8.55am to 3.20pm – School day for Key Stage 1 children (Years 1 & 2)
  • 8.55am to 3.25pm – School day for Key Stage 2 children (Years 3-6)
  • * Younger Reception children begin with half days initially and gradually build up to full days during term 1.

Lunchtime is from 12.00pm to 1.15pm for Reception & Key Stage 1 children and 12.15pm to 1.15pm for Key Stage 2 children.

There is also a morning break at 10.45am for all children.

With the exception of children in Reception, children are expected to make their own way to their classroom independently and in time for the register at 8.55am. Reception parents are welcome to accompany their children from the main entrance to the classroom.

At the end of the school day parents of children in Reception and Years 1-3 should meet their children at the side doors to the classrooms. Parents of children in Years 4-6 should meet their children at the school’s main entrance.

There is an after school club until 3.45pm run by staff which allows Reception and Key Stage 1 children to wait in safety for parents who are collecting older siblings.

Parking

Parents are welcome to use the community car parks opposite Brenchley Garage, and at the Brenchley Memorial Hall. However, parking is very cramped and all parents are responsible for exercising care and common sense in making sure that these times of day are safe.

Cars should not be brought on to school premises as this is dangerous and causes congestion. The road leading up to the school is a public road and access is required at all times by residents living further up. Please do not let your children play on this road.

We recognise that alternative options for most of our parents are limited, but we would ask you to give some thought to reducing the number of car journeys to and from the school, for example by considering car-sharing wherever practical.
